On Thursday 20 August 2015 the Prime Minister, Rt Hon John Key, visited Campbells Bay School to open the new teaching block known as the MLE (Modern Learning Environment) Building. The visit was a highlight for the community of Campbells Bay School with hundreds of parents attending the opening along with official guests and, of course, all the students we could fit into the new building.
Following a speech by the chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Vicki Caisley, the Prime Minister made a short speech before opening up with the students for a question and answer session. This proved to be very popular with students and guests alike.
Following the unveiling of the plaque by the Prime Minister, he was given a tour of the new building by students while guests partook of a sumptuous morning tea. Before departing for his next engagement the Prime Minister met hundreds of junior students who were unable to attend the official opening because of the lack of space.
The visit of the Prime Minister was a highlight and will be remembered by all those who were present.
