CBS Sports Notices

Athletics

Children from year 3 to year 6 will been selected from the their class athletics programme to attend the inter schools athletics trials. A CBS team will be selected from the trials and will participate in the Inter Schools Competition held at AUT Millennium in term 4.

More information will follow later in the year.

Badminton

North Harbour Badmington organise an inter schools tournament which usually takes place in term 2.  Students in year 5 and 6 will be able to trial for the team. More information, trial dates and tournament dates will be advertised in the weekly newsletter, on CBTV news and on this website closer to the time

Flippa Ball

Flippaball is water polo for juniors and is on offer to children in years 3 to 6. There are 3 competitions which are run by North Harbour Water Polo. There is a competition for Year 5 and 6; one for Year 3 and 4 and a Newbies/ Beginners competition for Year 3’s.

Games are played at Millennium Institute of Sport and Health (MISH) on Sunday afternoons. Trainings are every second Saturday at MISH.

Flippaball is played in all four terms. Online registrations open towards the end of the term for the competition starting the following term. Information regarding registrations will be advertised in the weekly newsletter, on CBTV news and on this website closer to the end of a term. Please note that priority is given to those players already in teams. We will try our best to accommodate those players signing up throughout the year. If teams are full, players will need to go on a waiting list.

Golf

North Harbour Golf run an annual North Harbour Primary Schools Golf Competition. If your child plays golf and would like to be considered for the team, email their name and room number to sports@campbellsbay.school.nz

Gymnastics

Lunchtime school gymnastics run by Mrs Brown and Miss Cunniffe starts in term 3. This is for both boys and girls years 2 -6 to learn routines and practice for the North Harbour schools’ competition in November.  All those interested need to be able to commit to practicing once a week, all term.

There is also the opportunity to try out for the rhythmic gymnastics team run by Mrs Crawford for years 3-6, who also learn routines for the schools competition in November.

Hockey

Winter Hockey is offered to students in year 3 to year 6. North Harbour Hockey run a competition for year 3 and 4 and a competition for year 5 and 6. There is the option of girl only teams, boy only teams and mixed teams. All games are played on a Monday afternoon and evening at the hockey turfs at Rosedale Park on Paul Matthew Road, Albany. The Competition is played during term 2 and 3.

Year 5 and 6 players attend a trial towards the end of term 1. Year 3 and 4 students do not attend trials. Information regarding registrations and trial dates for year 5 and 6 will be advertised in the weekly newsletter, on CBTV news and on this website closer to the time.

Summer Hockey is played during term 4 and is offered to students from year 1 to year 6. There are competitions for year 1 and 2; year 3 and 4; year 5 and 6. Years 1 to 4 play at Rosedale park on a Monday evening. The year 5 and 6 competition is split into two separate competitions. A development grade which is played on a Monday afternoon and an advanced grade which is played on a Tuesday afternoon.

Miniball

Miniball is basketball for juniors. There are three separate competitions for the junior, middle and senior school.

Year 1 and 2 participate in the Breakers Junior Fundamentals League played at the Breakers training venue on Atlas Place, Mairangi Bay. Games are played on a Monday afternoon. This league is all about teaching the basics of basketball in a fun learning environment.Included in every game is a 10- minute warm up with a coach from the Breakers so every session the children will learn new skills.The modified game involves 2 x 12 minute halves, 8ft hoop height, smaller ball size 5, 5 players on the court at one time.The games will be refereed by Breakers staff and coaching and support is available from them on the sideline.The focus on the games will be to teach the children to use the space well and encourage team ball.The aim is to give children a fun experience in basketball, while teaching them how to play the game in a structured environment.

Year 3 and 4 participate in the North Harbour Basketball competition played at the North Shore Events Centre. Games are played on a Tuesday afternoon. Players use 8ft hoop height, size 5 ball, 5 players on the court at one time.

Year 5 and 6 participate in the YMCA competition played at the YMCA on Akoranga Drive. Year 5 play games on a Thursday afternoon and Year 6 play on a Friday afternoon. 10ft hoop height, size 6 ball, 5 players on the court at one time.

The Year 3 and 4 competition and the Year 5 and 6 competition run as two separate semesters. Semester one (term 1 and 2) and semester two (term 3 and 4). Registrations for semester two open up towards the end of semester one. Information regarding registrations will be advertised in the weekly newsletter, on CBTV news and on this website closer to the end of a term 2. Please note that priority is given to those players already in teams. We will try our best to accommodate those players signing up mid year. If teams are full, players will need to go on a waiting list.

 

 

Netball

 

Winter Netball is played in term 2 and 3. There are different competitions on offer to schools.

Year 3 & 4

Participate in Kidzplay Netball at Pinehurst School. Games are Saturdays between 8.45am and mid afternoon.

Children play 7-a-side on a full size court with a size 4 netball and shoot at 2.6m goal posts. Games are two 15 minute halves with a 2 minute half-time break, teams swap ends at half time.

All players MUST rotate positions each week.

Year 5 & 6

Participate in the Netball North Harbour Competition. Games are Wednesday evenings between 4pm and 7pm at AMI Netball North Harbour, 44 Northcote Road.

  • Year 5 children play 7-a-side on full size court with a size 4 ball and shoot at 2.6m goal posts. There are quarterly player rotations.
  • Year 6 children play 7-a-side on full size court with a size 5 ball and shoot at 3.05m goal posts. There are no player position rotations.

Teams must supply own umpire.

Spring Netball 

Spring Netball is a fun league played in term 4.

Touch Rugby

Touch rugby is played in term four and is open to all students in years one to six. Registrations are now open through the school payment portal. All necessary dates and information is contained in the letter in the link below. Online registrations must be completed by 6:00pm on Thursday 17 August.
